Mission Statement

AMUCINE is the Association of Women in Film for the Dominican Republic, that was founded on October 11, 2010, in the city of Santiago by journalist and Producer, Julissa Rumaldo Natera.

Our organization groups the best of the best of local film talents, from Directors, Producers to screenwriters and designers, we host a very well rounded variety of audiovisual professionals able to compete within the demands of an international film industry.

AMUCINE women have collectively collaborated with A-list talents and are proud to be part of this women´s initiative to break the glass ceiling in film.

About Your Chapter/History

Amucine management begins with the presentation of the awards Greenwoman Film Dominican then fails to recognize the work of women Dominican filmmaker who so far had played a commendable work even before our Film Law.
After reaching the goal of becoming a functional NGO thanks to our partners, Legalia Group's Laura Castellanos and Biviana Riveiro, we begin to surpass our initial challenges and our Mission begins.

However, since 2014 we instituted our Annual Breakfast due to the rapid growth of our organization, we decided to hold annual meetings for our fellowship with our new partners, review the projections of the year, ensure accountability and build on that beautiful moment for recognition and honoring the most outstanding women throughout the year in the industry, especially for those with great experience in the sector. In this themed event we invite each member to adhere to a dress code because it is the party where the woman filmmaker forgets her guerrilla and is reunited with her femininity so we all enjoy a morning full of joy, funny stories and altogether strengthening our relationships and ties of support to each other in our industry.

Brief Description of your Key Programs

After reaching the goal of becoming a functional NGO thanks to our partners, Legalia Group's Laura Castellanos and Biviana Riveiro, we begin to surpass our initial challenges and our Mission begins.

One of our key programs undoubtedly is the support for our partners so we wanted to increase our social responsibility creating Valerie Cancer Fund, an aid program where we provide 50% of the cost of insurance Worldwide division with ECAL an international insurance that covers catastrophic illnesses with a sum of USD$500,000.00 annually, with coverage in 5 Latin American countries inclusive of Cuba, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica and our Dominican Republic.

We also created the International Fund for Festivals FIF fund to assist our members who are admitted to international festivals of great international rankings, covering their basic needs such as airfare and lodging, management, basically so that they feel supported even if they cannot afford luxury means to display their art.
