Mission Statement

Eileen Hoeter has been a major supporter of women in the Vancouver Film Industry. She has sat on numerous boards dealing Arts and Culture in Vancouver. She was appointed to the government board of the BC Festival of the Arts, as well as the Board of BC Film. She was also asked and participated on the Arts Coalition Committee, supported by Service Canada for three years 1995-98. Eileen is a committed and professional individual, who has played a significant role in the career development of hundreds young filmmakers through her work as a teacher and mentor. Her broad range of skills gives her a depth of knowledge in all areas of film. She has taught students in drama, documentary, and commercial filmmaking.
Eileen sits on many film related boards, and has been very involved in the community for over 25 years As a filmmaker her films have been aired nationally and have won several awards. Eileen is regarded as a dedicated leader on issues affecting the film and television industry in British Columbia.
Eileen spearheaded a 3 year project through the BCIFP on women in the film labour force with Service Canada. Through Eileen’ tenacity, she was able to leverage over $200,000, to do these 2 studies which are currently being used across BC, Montreal and Internationally.

About Your Chapter/History

Eileen Hoeter has been involved in the Film Industry since 1983. After receiving her Masters of Fine Arts in Film Production, she started her career on the long running series THE BEACHCOMBERS where she worked as a 3rd Assistant Director.

Her career has covered numerous areas including, Television, Documentaries, Drama, Animation and Photography. She has received a Leo Award for Best Informational Series - The Creators, a 57 part series she directed and produced on women in the arts in Canada, as well as being nominated for a Genie for Dying to be Perfect. As a director she has worked for companies such as CBC and WTN, as well as government and private agencies including the NFB, Canada’s Department of Corrections, Canada's Science and Technology Museum, British Columbia's Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Vancouver Aquarium and British Columbia's Museum of Anthropology. Eileen is a Director member of the Directors Guild of Canada, and the past chair of Women in Film and Television International.

Eileen has also taught film at UBC, BCIT, and was the Director of Programming at the internationally recognized Vancouver Film School .

Eileen currently works in the freelance market in the Film, Television, and Documentary areas, giving her a well-rounded perspective of the industry.
