To promote, educate and celebrate women in film, television and screen-based media in Atlantic Canada.

About Your Chapter/History

WIFT-AT is relatively new representing all Atlantic Canadian provinces including Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Newfoundland / Labrador. In September 2009, at the first AGM, WIFT-AT was registered as a not-for-profit organization.

Brief Description of your Key Programs

WIFT-AT presents many different events and programs annually to the Four Atlantic Provinces.

- Women Making Waves, an annual conference that takes place in early March to coincide with International Women's Day.

- Reel Talk, a monthly conversation series that features women who make art in film, television and new media

- Monthly networking breakfasts with special guests

- Screenings and presentations at the Atlantic Film festival, the St. John's Women's International Film Festival, the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, Silver Wave Film Festival and the Island Media Arts Festival

WIFT-Atlantic's Board of Directors is comprised of women from the four Atlantic provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island.

Jennice Ripley, Sylvia D. Hamilton and Jan Miller were honored with Wave Awards for their outstanding achievements in the film and television industry.

The Wave Awards are handed out annually during the Women Making Waves conference.
